Vegemite vs. Promite: The mighty Showdown

Ah, Vegemite and Promite—Australia’s two favourite spreads, locked in a never-ending battle for toast dominance. To the untrained tastebud, they might seem like twins separated at birth, but anyone who's ever tried both knows the truth.

Vegemite: The National Icon

Vegemite is Australia in a jar. Black, intense, and unapologetically salty, it’s the stuff Aussies grow up on, cutting their teeth (and taste buds) from a young age. It’s not for the faint of heart—or for anyone who mistakes it for Nutella (RIP those sandwiches). With Vegemite, less is definitely more.

Promite: Vegemite's Softer Sibling

Promite, on the other hand, is like Vegemite’s mellow cousin. It’s sweeter and smoother than the traditional Vegemite. Promite is for those who like their yeast spread with a side of subtlety, or for when Vegemite is just a little too... well, Vegemite.

Weird and Wonderful Combos:

If you're a fan of either spreads, have you ever thought about pushing the boundaries? Well here’s a tour through some truly weird and surprisingly wonderful combos!

1. Vegemite and avocado on toast

2. Promite and cheese croissant (this would be my favourite!)

3. Vegemite and chocolate (try it with dark chocolate and just a hint of Vegemite)

4. Promite and honey crumpets

5. Vegemite ice cream

The Verdict?

Vegemite is the bold, brash champion, while Promite plays the underdog, quietly winning over those who dare to stray. However in the end it comes down to personal preference.

Just remember—if you’ve never tried either, start with a thin spread, you never know it may become your new favourite spread!

Global delights - you never know you may even like it more than marmite.
